What is a junior coach?
Junior coaching is for children who are struggling at school and often lack an understanding of their differences. We work one to one, helping a child learn about ADHD or autism and the best ways to manage it.
A coach helps your child take control of their behaviour, identify their strengths and overcome barriers to achievement. Your child will learn ways to remember things, how to be distracted constructively, and to build self-esteem and be proud of who they are.
Is my child eligible?
Each child needs to be aware that they have ADHD or autism, want to work on the things they find hard, and be willing to try different strategies. Depending on age, this might mean reading children's books about neurodiversity, using equipment that supports them in school, or learning organisation strategies.
How support works
The coach works with parents, carers, teachers or teaching assistants to identify the main areas of concern, then works through strategies with short- and long-term goals. Sessions last one hour, usually weekly, at the ADHD Wellbeing Clinic in Norwich or at school. Telephone, email, text or Zoom support may be provided between sessions.
Cost
Appointments are payable at the time of booking. We require 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Appointments cancelled within 48 hours are non-refundable; those cancelled before 48 hours can be rescheduled.
