What is QbCheck?
QbCheck looks a bit like a simple computer game. A webcam tracks movement while the task is completed, measuring three areas commonly associated with ADHD:
Attention
Focus and concentration.
Impulsivity
Acting without thinking.
Activity
Movement and restlessness.
QbCheck does not diagnose ADHD on its own
It is one part of a comprehensive assessment alongside interviews, questionnaires, developmental history and reports from school or work. It does not count as a diagnostic domain under DSM-5.
What happens during the test
- It takes approximately 15–20 minutes
- You sit at a computer with a webcam in a quiet room
- You complete a simple attention task while responses and movement are tracked
- Results are compared with people of the same age and biological sex, with and without ADHD
- A qualified clinician interprets and discusses the results with you
How to prepare
- Be well rested and have eaten beforehand
- Wear any glasses or hearing aids you normally use
- Avoid sparkly or reflective clothing such as sequins
- Younger patients may like to bring something familiar while they wait
What QbCheck helps with
- Supports the clinician's understanding of attention, impulsivity and activity
- Compares performance with peers of the same age and biological sex
- Can be repeated to help monitor treatment response or changes over time
The test is safe, non-invasive and suitable for children aged 6 and above.
